The Hieroglyphs
The Hieroglyphs
A short MagmaCat story
Written by Lexi Hux
"There are secrets hidden in these tombs, young cat, that should not be awakened."
But even against the Elder's word, the cat snuck into the temple in the dead of night. She took a torch off the wall and lit it, exposing the dusty cave walls. There were multitudes of picturesque carvings, all telling a single story.
'Let all who come to this temple be warned, the Fire Beast sleeps within these walls. To wake the demoness would seal the kingdom's fates for the worst.'
The cat opened her pack, and layed out seven black rocks in front of a huge carving of the fabled Fire Beast. She then let the flame of her torch lick at each of the rocks. This is what she had read about in the ancient texts, the next part, she needed to recite the spell.
"Oh great ancestor of fire and blaze," She called, "I am she called Annie, I speak on behalf of the cats! Our kingdom shall fall to ruins, unless you save it, Fire Queen! The prehistoric monster, the bringer of The Great Despair has returned! Please help us, Fire Queen! I promise, we shall repay you, Glorious Bringer of Fire, but first please, help us one last time."
The cat sank to her knees as the torchlight flickered brighter and brighter, until it became a drowning white. The hieroglyphs began to peel themselves off the walls, and began to take shape in front of Annie, becoming a huge stone cat.
The stone cat rattled and shook at it came to life, cracks forming like stripes upon its body, revealing scorching hot lava underneath.
"Oh please," The Fire Beast said, "Call me Magma."
The End...
For now?
