A Cute Anubis - Egyptian Mythology - 1

 

This is Anubis, the ancient Egyptian god of death. Stand before him at the gate to afterlife and he will weigh your heart next to an ostrich feather. If your heart is lighter, you carry no woe or unfinished deeds, and you will be granted passage into the afterlife. But if your heart is heavier, you will be sentenced to eternal torture in the underworld, or Ammut (You'll see her next week) would eat them.

Half jackal, all adorable, this little Anubis is hardly living up to his role as menacing protector of the afterlife... He's far too cute!
